One of the things everyone who owns a car must do is maintain it.If you don’t make it a point to maintain your vehicle and neglect it, you will have expensive auto repair costs.If you make it a habit of neglecting it, you are in danger of failing even a smog test. With the consequences of failing a smog check also comes auto repair costs that will be expensive. Or you might face the possibility of not being allowed to drive your car.So we shall take a look at some things you can do to help you avoid having some of these problems happening to you.

First of all as mentioned in the previous paragraph you have to keep proper maintenance.  All my clients of my auto repair San Diego shop I stress to them how important it is to bring their car in regularly.Regular maintenance helps us locate any problems before they get too big and expensive.And just like practically all auto repair issues, the earlier you can fix something the less expensive it will be.

Another thing I emphasize as important is the need to have regular oil changes.  Failing to do that is sometimes the root cause of why my clients fail in my smog test San Diego service shop.But if they are diligent in making sure to do this one thing, their car will be in better shape.On top of that, when you have an engine that is well oiled, it lasts longer.

Finally an often overlooked part of the car are the brakes.  This is one part of the car that is always used but often overlooked.  Whenever a customer of mine brings in a car to my San Diego brake shop it is sometimes one of the most expensive repairs.So I emphasize the importance of taking better care of it in the future.  Doing things like keeping it’s fluids level correct will help.

So those are just some simple things you can do to help yourself in avoiding big expensive auto repairs.Plus it will also make it easier to pass your next smog check.

A car is one of the biggest investments that people have.  And it doesn’t have to be a Ferrari or Mercedes.You must maintain it regularly since it is such a big investment.  Like anything if you take care of it it will last longer.If you do not maintain it then it will develop problems faster than usual.In this article, we will be looking at ways to make sure that your car won’t have those problems.

So, as you may know by now, your cars need regular maintenance.What’s good is that the small amount of money that you will spend on maintenance will save you a lot in the long run.  I see it all the time in my Vista auto repair shop.My clients who are regularly maintaining their cars have lesser encounters with major repairs as compared to those who do not maintain their cars.So by spending now on maintenance would save you a lot of money in the future.

Some things I always suggest for my customers of my Oceanside auto repair shop is to do regular oil changes.This maintenance thing would greatly help your car.  Keeping your oil good keeps your car running well.  It helps the engine last longer.The funny thing is that changing oils is an inexpensive thing to do.So if you have your own car you must regularly change its oil.

Another maintenance tip is to do regular tune ups.  Tune ups are good because it helps your keep your engine running in top shape.And also, it can also be one way to detect problems with your car.This problems will not be detected if not for tune ups.

So there goes some of the things that one can do to keep their cars away from auto repair shops.  They are simple and they don’t cost as much as when you need a major repair.

Avoiding transmission problems

// November 14th, 2009 // No Comments » // News / Society

One of the most important parts of your car is your transmission. Not only is it one of the most important it is also one of the most expensive.It is an expensive part to repair or replace.So you should make sure to always take care of it.  If you don’t it can cost you a lot of money.  So here are some tips to take better care of your transmission.

One minor thing that is often overlooked but a major cause of transmission problems is the fluid.  Not having enough transmission fluid causes so much damage that I see it happen all the time in my Vista auto repair shop.  The sad part about it is that it could have been avoided.  All a person has to do is to make sure to always check fluid levels.If the fuid levels are already low then go and get her filled up.It is easy to do and can also save you a lot of money.

Second thing you want to do is make sure to not shift gears while moving. You would be surprised at the number of cars that come in damaged in my Oceanside transmission repair shop from this problem alone.  Don’t get impatient and shift gears while moving.That is another thing that is very easy to do. But the inability to do it will damage your transmission bit by bit.

Last thing would be not to let your transmissin get hot.A transmission that is overheated have the potential of damaging itself more easily.  I always advise my La Costa auto repair clients to make sure to add a coolant type of additive to their fluid.This helps the transmission to be cooler while running.

If a person were to do these things, they can help their transmission last longer.Failure to do so will hurt them financially and their transmission willhave a shorter lifespan.With these things being easy to do it should not be a problem and too much of hassle for car owners.

Signs of transmission problems

// November 6th, 2009 // No Comments » // News / Society

One of the most expensive parts of the car to replace is the transmission. Sometimes replacing the automatic transmission is more expensive than replacing the car.So, armed with that knowledge car owners should be more careful of their cars. One way you can do that is by paying attention to what’s happening to your car. What I mean to say is that there are signs to tell you if there is something going on with your transmission. Because prevention is better than repairing a full blown damage.

The first thing you should watch out for are leaks.  A lot of times I have cars brought into my Vista auto repair shop where the problem started with a simple leak.You should be on the lookout for red leaks.If you find any red fluid leaking from your car then that is your transmission fluids.And if your transmission is low on fluids damages can happen.If you see any red fluids leaking from your car immediately fill your car with more transmission fluids.Then go and take it to an auto repair shop so that the leak will be fixed.

Another thing you must observe is if there are noises and vibrations coming from your transmission.  From my experience running my La Costa transmission repair shop those noises are a sign of a couple of things.  It could be a sign of low fluid.  Or it could be a sign of damaged transmission cables.Immediately have your car checked by a mechanic to see if you have those kinds of transmission problems.

Last thing that you should be on the lookout for is an overheating transmission. That will be your biggest hint that there is a problem with your transmission. I see all the time cars brought into my La Costa auto repair shop that had that problem.  Most of the times it was brought in too late.  So rather than having an inexpensive repair it was a major repair.

You can avoid major expenses if you just follow those steps and observe your car.  It is simple to do and can save you money.

How to improve how long your transmission will last

// November 3rd, 2009 // No Comments » // News / Society

One of the repairs that will cost you a lot on a car is having the transmission done.  It is one of those repairs you hate to hear you have to do.  So of course most people want to know how to make it last longer.  Or they want to know if it is even possible. Like most things it is possible.  You can make it last longer by making sure to take care of them.But here are some more things that are more specific in helping your transmission get more life.

First thing you always want to do is maintain proper fluid level.  Just like everything in your car you want to keep your fluids right.  But with a transmission it is crucial if you want your car to last longer.  Whenever a client takes there car in to the La Costa transmission repair shop I run I always check their fluids.I am always talking to my customers to make sure they understand to watch their fluid levels.  If they run their car with low fluids they will surely ruin their transmission.  Or it won’t last as long as they want.

Second thing to be aware of is that heat can harm your transmission.So you are going to want to find ways to get your transmission to run cooler.One of the most effective way to accomplish that is by putting in some transmission cooler.  You can easily find it at most auto parts dealers.  Of course when clients come and bring their cars in to our Vista auto repair shop we add it in also.This gives the transmission the ability to run cooler.

Lastly here is one that is easy.Do not ever attempt to shift gears while the car is in motion.You will be shocked at how many people do ruin their vehicles because they shifted the gear while the car was in motion.  I am not because we see it all the time in our La Costa auto repair shop.People will have their cars brought in and they will have ruined transmissions because of this very thing.

Ways to avoid going to auto shops for repairs

// November 1st, 2009 // No Comments » // News / Society

One of the things people hate about cars is the maintenance. It is a hassle to bring it into the auto repair shop.It is a hassle and waste of time waiting for your car get fixed in an auto shop.Plus it costs the owner a lot of money.  What people don’t realize is if they had done some routine maintenance they could have avoided it.They could have avoided expensive repairs that they have paid for.

During my ownership of my auto repair San Diego business I always advise my clients to do regular maintenance.  I try to show them by doing simple things they can avoid costly repairs.But their cars will not only run better.They will be more happy with the performance of the car that they own.This can all be the result when they just take care of their cars properly.

First thing that they should do is to make their cars undergo regular tune ups.Tuning up your car will make it go smoother.Plus making your car undergo regular tuneups will also improve its chances of passing a smog test.  One of the biggest cause of failures in my smog test San Diego shop is the fact that people neglected their tune ups.Doing regular tune ups to your car can help the owners in avoiding a smog test failure.

So another one thing I suggest to all my clients is to always check the brakes. One of the most costly repairs people bring into my San Diego brake service is fixing the brakes.Something as simple as breaks will cost a lot of money for the owners.It can be expensive if they really need to replace the brake system of a car.But by just doing simple steps like checking the barke fluid level will help in preventing this from happening.Make sure also to check if there any noise coming from the breaks.Detecting brake problems at an early stage will lessen the damage and the repair costs.

These few simple steps when done by car owners will save them a fortune in repairs.

Important auto repair maintenance for your car

// October 26th, 2009 // No Comments » // News / Society

One thing people don’t even know is how crucial it is to maintain your car properly.Wel don’t really value how important these cars are that we use to drive around in.  We don’t realize that our safety is on the line everytime we go out. Plus they seem unaware to the fact your car is also in danger whenever there is driving done.  So here are the top 2 auto repair jobs for your car.

First thing doing tuneups is really important to your car’s overall health.  What I mean is to have a regular tune up schedule for your car.  As mentioned your car’s are big investments.  If you don’t maintain it you run the risk of ruining it.  I have seen many clients ruin their vehicle and take it into my auto repair San Diego shop after the fact.I notice that if there was just some routine maintenance performed, a lot of the problems could have been avoided.

Another thing to consider when doing regular tune ups is that you will have your car performing cleaner.With such a strong emphasis to cleaner air through cleaner emmissions it is really important.  Because if you don’t take care of your car it can run the risk of faiing a smog check.  I have seen older cars that when taken care of pass with flying colors in my smog test San Diego shop by doing regular tune ups.I have also witnessed the opposite way as well.  Cars that weren’t taken care of fail miserably.

Finally a very important part to your car is the brakes.But most people don’t even give it a second thought most of the time.By not doing a good job of caring for your brakes you are taking a chance of more expensive repairs.  In my San Diego brake service I see cars have expensive brake repair jobs because they didn’t do simple maintenance. By just keeping an eye on their brakes.Or if they did have some checks performed on it regularly it could have saved them some money.

Checking transmission problems at home

// October 26th, 2009 // No Comments » // News / Society

One of the most expensive auto repairs you can do is a transmission repair.It is a major part of your vehicle.Being sure to take care of it is really important.  By taking care of your car you can save yourself a lot of money.Since it is something you won’t be able to fix yourself, you still can do some checking at home.By having some of the checking done at home you can see if it needs to be brought in.

First off since I own a Vista auto repair shop I know how expensive transmission repairs can be.  So I always tell my clients to check a couple of things first.  This way they can make sure they need to come in.  First off they can check the fluid.  The fluid should be clear.If you find that the fluid is black or dark, that is a warning sign of problems and the car has to be brought in.

Second thing they can check at home is to check the gear shifting.  You do this by moving your gear from park to drive.  Or you can move it from park to reverse.What you are trying to see is if the gears do the shifting smoothly.What you don’t want to feel is any jerking motion.If you notice that there is jerking, this is a bad sign that there is a problem with your transmission.  In my La Costa transmission repair shop this is one of the big signs of transmission problems.Quite a few cars that are brought in have this problem.

Finally you can check for any leaks of your transmission fluid.This is another thing you can do with your dipstick.But you won’t know unless you perform this check regularly.  I advise all my customers in my La Costa auto repair shop to always check your fluids.People know how to check for oil.But their transmission fluid is something they need to check also.  This way they can tell if their fluid is leaking.

If you follow these tips you can make sure your car’s transmission stays good.

Transmission problems signs

// October 21st, 2009 // No Comments » // News / Society

One of the most expensive parts of the car to be repaired is the transmission. In general like most of your car they are built well.  But it can be easily broken and very expensive to fix.So you should always see to it that you regularly maintain your transmission. So let us now look into some signs of a transmission problem.

First thing that can signal a problem with the transmission is by looking at the fluids.With a dipstick you can check if there are signs of a leak in your fluid levels. If you find out that the level of the fuid is always low then that could be a sign of a leak.If the fluid has a burnt smell or is dark in color then that is a sure sign of problems.So to be sure that your car does not suffer any major problems with the transmission make sure that you check your fluids regularly. If you notice any of thesse signs you must immediately go into an auto repair shop.  I catch a lot of transmission problems early in my Vista transmission repair shop with these signs alone.

Another sign of transmission problems is when you have a delay when you shift it into drive. If you shift it and it takes a moment to get into gear that is a sign of a problem. Delay of engagement is what they call that problem. This could be caused by a worn out transmission or another problem. I have all my clients take it into my Vista auto repair shop anytime they get the delayed engagement problem.

Last sign of problem that I know of is when you shift the gears and it is jerky then that would be another sign of problems to come.All shifting done when driving should be smooth and not jerky.This would be the sign that your transmission is worn out because every time you shift gear your car jerks. I catch a lot of problems early in my La Costa transmission repair shop when this happens.A customer can save more money on repairs if only he.she can detect the problems as early as possible.
