Got Into Diving Thanks To James Bond

// September 1st, 2010 // 1 Comment » // Movies / TV

I will admit to saying that diving is not something I have fancied before. I not only never really fancied going on a diving trip but I also thought that it would be a dull and boring experience overall and this all changed when I went and purchased all of the Bond movies on DVD a few months ago, you do not realise until you watch them all through again just how much diving is featured in the some of the films and when playing through some of these films I thought it might be a good idea to actually start thinking aboutscuba diving holidays after all.

The Key Changing Moments In The Film?

the moment or film should I say that really made me change my mind was Thunderball which of course featured Sean Connery. A lot of this film was featured underwater and despite actually most of it being filmed in a studio I was still very much interested in believing that going on a real dive would be something that was well worth my time which would really be great.

Of course the great bonus about going on a real dive outside of the Bond franchise is that that my chances of having to take on sharks and people with harpoon guns falls by a lot which gives me even more of a reason to go diving. I went to the closest place to me in which I could take up diving and booked myself a lesson for later on the day. I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed it, in fact so much that I went forward and booked some shark diving out in those Maldives diving locations.

So thanks Mr Bond for giving me a great new hobby to go and try out, I will keep doing this and who would have thought a movie franchise would provide me with a decent hobby to try out!

The Big Reasons Fawlty Towers Was In Torquay

// September 1st, 2010 // 1 Comment » // Movies / TV

surely most of the people out there know what Fawlty Towers is? This is arguably the best British sitcom out there and starred John Cleese as Basil Fawlty as well as Prunella Scales as Sybil Fawlty and of course the brilliant Andrew Sachs as Manuel! One of the big questions that always get asked is why did Cleese and Booth (played Polly) decide it was best to have this set in Torquay?

Experience

one of the key reasons that people are great at writing sitcoms like this is because they base things on personal experiences and real people. Well Cleese did just this and he based the character on a hotel owner he had seen when staying at a hotel in Torquay when he was filing with the people from Monty Python.

Well in May of 1970 it would seem that the team booked in to the Gleneagles hotel and it is during this stay that Cleese noticed the strange behaviour the owner had with the guests at his hotel. There was a quote from John Cleese and it is “the most marvellously rude man I’ve ever met”. One of the things Cleese saw was the owner throwing a timetable at a guest asking about bus times and another was him taking Eric Idles briefcase out into the garden because he though a bomb was in it. (There was a ticking alarm clock in it). After the rest of the cast left the hotel Cleese and Booth stayed behind at the hotel to research the hotel manager further and it was this that Basil Fawlty was born from.

In the end there is no way that you are going to be visiting a hotel like this when it comes to Torquay, in fact they have some fantastic hotels there nowadays. It is worth thinking about one of those spa breaks or Torquay holidays when it comes to this as it is something that people enjoy. Is it too early to think about Christmas hotels Torquay?

Have a great time when you are there!

Ingenious Characters From Fawlty Towers

// September 1st, 2010 // 1 Comment » // Movies / TV

Most people out there know that Fawlty Towers is an amazing sitcom and if not one of the best, the best to ever be shown in the UK, did you know the series was also based in Torquay?. Although you would certainly not find a hotel like this in Torquay and it is a place that you would enjoy spa breaks and hotels in Devon this might actually be a programme in which a lot of people have not seen before, if you have not then you need to know some of the characters before you do!.

Basil Fawlty

John Cleese is of course the actor behind this ingenious character and based it on a hotel manager he spotted when staying at a Torquay hotel in 1970. He is the hotel manager of Fawlty Towers and all he really wants to is raise the class of the hotel up a bit but due to his lack of patience, his high temper with guests and staff he never really gets round to doing it. although technically he is the head honcho when it comes to owning the hotel is true to say that as soon as his wife mentions his name he stops in his tracks.

Sybil Fawlty

The wife of Basil, played by Prunella Scales is energetic and petite. it would seem that a lot of the time she simply lets Basil get on with things whilst she chats on the phone to pals. she can come in right when Basil is in the middle of a scheme or a rampage and all she needs to do is mutter his name and he will stop.

Manuel

My favourite character, played by Andrew Sachs, is a Spanish waiter who means well but is very dis-organised and is always being picked on by Basil Fawlty. with this I am actually talking both physical and mental abuse i.e. a frying pan to the head.

Torquay is actually a great place to go to and if you want to take your Christmas holidays then you need to do it!

Buffy Season 8

// September 1st, 2010 // 1 Comment » // Movies / TV

Based on a comic book series by Dark Horse Comics, Buffy the Vampire Slayer season eight is a continuation of the TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Season eight story follows the event of the show’s last televised season seven. The show is produced by Joss Whedon who also wrote the first arc, The Long Way Home.

Buffy season 8 was meant to include up to 25 issues and Scott Allie who is the series editor also declared that they were already up to 50 and could still go a little higher. Though, it was ultimately decided that season eight series would have a 40 issue run. Tales of the Vampires and the Willow have been released as a spin-off limited series that are stories outside of Buffy season eight’s narrative. Because of the series’ success, this made Joss Whedon and DW publishing to publish Angel: After the Fall, as a concurrent continuation of Angel television sequence.

Buffy Season 8 – The Story

Buffy and Xander are now leading the command central found at a citadel in Scotland. Under them are various kinds of witches, psychics, seers, and of course Slayers. They are operating along with a very modern technology which is the result from Buffy robbing a Swiss bank, hence the huge amount of cash they have now. Buffy’s name is feared world wide, so for her health and safety there are two decoys which are positioned in Rome and in a demonic underground cavern. Willow is the one person Buffy relies heavily on. Willow is under the tutelage of a very powerful demon known as Saga Vasuki. Willow’s power has become exceptional under Saga Vasuki. Willow can now cast highly intricate and large scale spells, and can also fly.

The population of Slayers and the Scooby Gang has been increasing and in the aftermath of Sunnydale’s destruction, the U.S. government elements define Buffy as a terrorist together with all the Slayers and the Scooby Gang members. They consider Buffy as charismatic, uncompromising, and a total dangerous leader. General Voll from the mystical initiative-like government project teamed with Sunnydale’s powerful witch Amy Madison and villain Warren Mears from season six, to dispatch Buffy once and for all. There are other villains who appear simultaneously for instance Lady Genevieve who’s an evil British socialite Slayer and plans to take Buffy’s place in the hierarchy of Slayers. Also, there is a cabal of Japanese vampires who would like to reverse the worldwide activation of potential Slayers in Chosen.

On the other hand, Buffy, for a time is romantically attracted to Satsu, a female Slayer, while Xander falls for Slayer Renee. Willow protectively withholds Kennedy away from her friends and Kennedy is fully unaware of Willow’s sexual association with Saga Vasuki. Furthermore, a vampire Harmony Kendall becomes well-known as being a reality TV star, hence he uses the chance to usher a new pro-vampire and anti-Slayer world order.

The majority of the Slayer squads reconvene in retreat because they are being attacked by Twilight, other demons, and militaries across the globe. Twilight can now quickly track the group by using their magic, therefore Buffy and her friends relocate to Tibet and ask Oz to tell them how to control magic for witches and Slayers. Buffy and Giles are concerned to the degree on which they depend on Willow and that she may well go overboard again like in season six. Buffy’s fear is as a result of her visit on the future where she has no choice but to kill a future Dark Willow. Buffy’s crossover is by the Whedon miniseries Fray. Indeed, Buffy season 8 is as exciting as its previous seasons.

Watching Movies In Your Home Theater Installation

// September 1st, 2010 // 1 Comment » // Movies / TV

Subscribing for a home theater installation in Chicago could be the foremost decision one could ever make, specifically in terms of convenience and long term savings. Although some individuals are still unwilling to take the initial step, a great many others are already reaping the benefits of enjoying the full movie theater experience right in their own individual homes.

A great benefit of owning a theater system at home is the convenience of not having to drive the family unit out to go and see a movie. The cost of gas, if not taxi fare, is no joke, particularly for people who count their pennies carefully. The price of a gallon of gas could be employed for extra food to have an all out barbecue movie night for the whole family – a superb alternative compared to stale movie theater popcorn.

For those who are low on budget, there are home theater box systems that are compact and less expensive, that can still provide that movie experience without needing to make acoustic renovations to the whole living room area. Home theater system shopping does not have to be overly expensive, particularly when one knows how to budget wisely. Take the time to do research on merchandises before deciding on the one system that can provide all the necessary features essential for family use.

Do You Like Watching The Television Program Deal Or No Deal?

// August 30th, 2010 // 1 Comment » // Movies / TV

Do you like to watch the T.V program Deal or No Deal? I have been watching it, whenever I can, for the last few months now and I have to say, however sad it may sound, that it is probably my favourite program on the t.v at present. All there seems to be on mainstream television these days is repeats or poor quality new shows – this deal or no deal is probably the best of a bad bunch!

I am a person who works on my laptop quite a lot as I sell upvc windows and upvc doors and I have to send people the quotes online. I like to watch the t.v whilst doing this as it helps me to relax.

The British version of the program is on channel four at about half past four and is hosted by Noel Edmonds. Even though I do love the show there are a number of ways in which I think it could be improved:

1. The time that the show is on is not ideal, I am normally out at half past four in the afternoon on a weekday, as I am sure most people are due to work etc.

2. It would, in my opinion, be far more riveting it were to be speeded up some what – all of the advert breaks do not really help either – if the show lasted for a short sharp thirty minutes it would probably be a world beater.

3. I think in this day and age, the prize money should be increased to a maximum payout of a million pounds from the current amount of two hundred and fifty thousand pounds.

I watched a recent show where the contestant was left with a chance of either winning one hundred thousand pounds or just one thousand pounds. This person did have a decent job working at an egg donation clinic but what was to happen next was a complete shock to me. The banker then offered him £35000, if I remember rightly, to leave there and then. The contestant was unsure for a while but then stated to Noel that he was now ready to be asked the question, deal or no deal? Noel duly asked him, to which the contentest stuttered “no deal”. It was not that he had a stuttering problem it was merely the nerves coming out.

I admired the guys bravery but £35000 is such a huge amount of money, especially compared with just £1000. Noel eventually opened up the contestants box to reveal that he had only won £1000. I could not believe it and felt quite sorry for the chap.

Film Training For Filmmaking Enthusiasts

// August 27th, 2010 // 1 Comment » // Movies / TV

The art of filmmaking requires talent as well as skills, be that technical or otherwise. You need to undergo film training if you want to join the film industry. There are a number of film outfits that provide training and education for those who are interested in filmmaking and the wanna-be filmmakers.

There are a number of aspects that you must think of when you are choosing a film training course from the institution you have chosen to provide you this. These are the most pertinent, among many.

Whether you are in the US, the UK or anywhere else, if you are planning to study filmmaking you have to be aware about your interest. Some of these training courses give training on directing and others zero in on scriptwriting. In this sense, you must know the different aspects of filmmaking for you to decide about the specific course you are to enroll in.

You must be able to decide whether you want a personal or one-on-one training or a filmmaking course that deals with a group of trainees. Advantages and disadvantages go with these options of course. When you undergo a one-on-one training you can benefit from its specialized education but you can as well learn from the ideas and experiences of your group members when you undergo a group film course

Would you go for a film training in a classroom arrangement or would like to enroll in a film course online where you can learn so at your own pace and  preferred schedule? Figure out the benefits and disadvantages again and see if it fits your lifestyle.

Then the most significant aspect is choosing the film institution you can entrust your filmmaking knowledge to. Find out more about its track record and its character and reputation. With track record, that includes the number of graduates who in fact made it to the real film world and perhaps much better if the institution was able to produce big wigs in the industry. Of course, you have to check out if the course you are intending to study is available too.

A formal film education can render formality and discipline to your art. With a couple of training from the school of hard knocks, you are on your way to a prosperous career in the film industry.
